Cards get elusive win with late winner
The New Lawn
Attendance: 1605 (63 from Woking)
After three months without a win, Woking fans finally had something to celebrate when Cameron Norman fired home a 92nd minute winner at second place Forest Green.
Kieffer Moore gave Rovers an early lead but when Bruno Andrade was brought down in the penalty area, Daniel Carr converted the spot-kick for the equaliser. Then, Norman rifled in to end Forest Green's slim title hopes, with Cheltenham Town becoming champions.
Garry Hill made two changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Gateshead a week ago. Andrade and Cameron Norman replaced Alex Smith and Joey Jones, who both came off injured in the first-half last Saturday. John Goddard missed out again due to his hamstring injury, but was out jogging on the pitch before the game.
The first-half was largely dominated by the home side, who took the lead in the 10th minute through a tidy finish from Moore. Some good saves from Jake Cole, one of Woking's standout players in recent weeks, kept the Cards within distance.
Woking played with more intent in the second half and got their reward just after the hour. Andrade out-paced right-back David Pipe and was then brought down by the Rovers defender in the area. Carr stepped up and slotted the ball in off the post after goalkeeper Steven Arnold got a hand to it.
Forest Green hit the crossbar with a header before the moment Woking fans, players and staff had waited 98 days for. A corner from the right was half cleared by Arnold, Andrade lofted the ball back in and Charlie Clough could only head away as far as Norman, who controlled and shot low and hard into the bottom corner.
The Cards moved up to 14th place, back above Aldershot Town.
