Cards lose out at Bromley

Bromley
2 - 1
Woking

Hayes Lane

20/02/2016 3:00pm

Attendance: 1227 (282 Woking)

Referee:

Goals from ex-Cards Moses Emmanuel and Adam Cunnington cancelled out John Goddard's opener to extend Woking's winless run to five league games.

Following last week's home defeat to Guiseley, Garry Hill made four changes to the starting XI: Chris Arthur, Jake Caprice, Bruno Andrade and new signing Sam Smith came in.

In the sixth minute, Goddard swept home his 15th goal of the season to give Woking a deserved lead.

However, the Cards haven't had much luck with injuries of late and Smith was forced off with a groin injury after 21 minutes. Brian Saah also had to be replaced due to a hamstring injury later in the game.

Woking lost their way following the substitution and after Cameron Norman's clearance hit referee Brett Huxtable and rebounded off him into the path of Adam Coombes, the Cards centre-half bundled the winger over and a penalty was awarded. Emmanuel duly dispatched the spot kick for his 18th goal of the season.

Soon Woking were behind, this time Emmanuel's strike partner Cunnington turned and shot past Jake Cole to double Bromley's lead.

If it wasn't for a number of good saves from Cole, Bromley could have found themselves further ahead both by half-time and full-time.

Ravens keeper Alan Julian had to be alert to keep out efforts from Joe Quigley and Goddard in the second half but Woking couldn't find a way through a resilient Bromley defence.

Hill's men now head into a pivotal and testing week, having to travel to Grimsby twice, first to play in the league on Tuesday and then in the FA Trophy quarter finals on Saturday.

Star Player

Jake Cole - Once again Woking's number 1 put in a Man of the Match performance to keep the Cards hopes alive and the score down.
